Our Leaders

The CBCF Leadership Team consists of Mike Leader, Steve & Susan Gurnett, Sue Redford, Leanne Rivett and Mackwin Maton. Mike and Steve are recognised by the Fellowship as elders.

Mike Leader is single and has been involved in leading the fellowship for over thirty years. He worked in a local Church of England Comprehensive School, holding posts as Head of Music, Head of Sixth Form and finally Deputy Head until he took early retirement in 1998. He was involved with the school as a governor, staff chaplain and archivist until its closure in July 2014. He is the Chair of Trustees for the Greenwich Blue Coat Foundation.

Mike is seen as a spiritual father to the Fellowship and he takes a leading role in worship, preaching and teaching. He is a trustee of Greenwich Street Pastors.

He is very active in local church affairs, being the convener of Ecumenical Borough Deans in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and represents Independent Evangelical Churches. He also represents Greenwich on the London Borough Unity Groups and represents the Borough Deans on the Greenwich Emergency Planning Liaison Group as well as serving on the management groups of a number of Christian organisations. He chairs the Greenwich Church Leaders Forum. Mike continues his interest in education and is a Trustee of Trinitas Academy Trust, Bexley and Chair of Governors at Northwood Primary School in Thamesmead.

Mike is a keen photographer and twitcher and plays the church organ, piano and keyboards.

Steve Gurnett is one of the elders at CBCF and is also a full time evangelist working with OAC ministries, an organisation which is committed to taking the gospel to the unchurched in various forms. He is currently the London Director for OAC. Steve specialises in street evangelism and is involved in regular open-air outreach both locally and further afield. He also trains other people in effective ways of presenting the gospel to those outside the church environment.

This wider role complements his leadership in CBCF as Steve helps us to be more outward looking. He is also involved in taking school assemblies and leads evangelism training courses.

Steve's other interests include fell walking, cycling and sea fishing. He is married to Susan and they have five grown up children.
